Nantwich Town boss Danny Johnson admits the last few weeks has been the “worst period in his management career”.
Johnson said his side’s poor results and criticism from some section of fans has left him “battered and bruised”.
But he feels the last eight weeks will make him a better manager and certainly a stronger person.
“I’ve read lots of stuff on social media reminding me of how bad of a manager I am,” he said.
“They have no idea what is happening at Nantwich Town Football Club but it makes me chuckle to myself and even more determined to achieve success.
“The chairman and the board have consistently told me this is a long term project I am involved in and I have nothing but their support.
“We still have a long, long way to go this season but the recent signs are promising and I think we are turning a corner.”
Nantwich Town currently sit in 19th place in the Evo-Stik Premier League.
And they are set to lose defender John Disney, who is being recalled from his loan spell by Chester.
“We are still conceding goals and it is quite obvious we don’t get tight enough to the opposition in dangerous areas,” said Johnson.
“We need to improve defensively but we definitely have the players to help us do that.
“We lose John Disney after Saturday as his loan has expired and Chester have decided to recall him.
“John has done great for us but in Shaun Dowling we have someone who is very hungry to get back playing and playing well.
“I have a couple more players on my radar as I feel we need to add to the squad as we go into a very hectic period.”
Johnson also feels the spirit in the squad is strong after the difficult run of results.
“We have good belief in the changing room, we had a chat after the game at Stamford about team spirit and I believe the lads are a much stronger group having been through the experience of the last six weeks,” he added.
“It was great to see our skipper Mark Jones return, he really does add so much to the team, we seem to have a much better balance with him in the side.
“It is my hope and belief that with Andy Pearson and Mark Jones in the centre of midfield we will become a much more solid unit.”
Nantwich are next in action this Saturday December 20 when they welcome Buxton to the Weaver Stadium, kick off 3pm.
