over 50s party

Four hundred over 50s residents in Crewe and Nantwich have enjoyed a free Christmas party thanks to support and donations from local organisations.

Two parties, each for 200 people, are being staged with local schoolchildren helping serve up their tasty meals.

The first event was held at the Oakley Centre in Crewe where guests who included deputy mayor of Cheshire Cllr Hilda Gaddum tucked into a three-course Christmas lunch.

Food was prepared by Crewe-based community project Wishing Well, with musical entertainment by the Funky Choir and students from Kings Grove School.

A second party will be held for another 200 residents at Nantwich Civic Hall this week with students from Brine Leas School helping out.

The parties were funded by housing provider, Wulvern and local firms including Bentley Motors and Crewe Rotary Club.

The venues were provided free by Everybody and Nantwich Town Council.

Guests donated non-perishable food towards the Crewe and Nantwich Foodbanks which provide emergency supplies to people in crisis.

Rachel Cornes, Wulvern’s health and wellbeing advisor, said: “This annual event is a firm favourite on our customer’s calendar.

“We’re delighted to be able to give over 400 people a fabulous free Christmas party!

“We are proud to work together with local schools and organisations, to do something truly special for the local community.”

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
