A young office manager at a South Cheshire digital company was shortlisted for a major award.
Laura Wood, 22, who works for R1 Digital Media, was one of just nine people across the UK nominated for Unsung Hero: Rising Star category of The Drum Network Awards.
Laura, from Stoke-on-Trent, joined the company, run by Nantwich entrepreneur Fiona Ridgway, a year ago after graduating from Staffordshire University with a degree in advertising and brand management.
“I went on quite a few trips with uni to London and New York working on live briefs with agencies such as Fallon who make the cadbury adverts and Profero Lowe who work with M&S and Smirnoff,” said Laura.
“Throughout uni I worked at Next so picked up a lot of info about how to handle customers and how to provide great customer service.
“I learned a lot about the retail industry too, so it’s great.”
Former Brine Leas student Fiona Ridgway, boss of R1 Digital based at Crewe Hall Farm, said: “Laura has grown from strength to strength and progressed in her role to become office manager.
“She works hard to successfully deliver projects and is very diligent in her work.
“One of Laura’s greatest abilities is to juggle a to-do list as long as her arm, making sure everything runs smoothly for all of our clients!
“On a day-to-day basis, you can find her building strong relationships with clients and managing their needs, supporting and organising the team and taking care of the internal marketing for R1.”
