Crewe and Nantwich Centre Manager - Allan Virr

A Nantwich firm has launched a new app – aimed at boosting the confidence of local employees.

Pitman Training Crewe and Nantwich is running a social media campaign to debut the new “My Career Selfie” free app.

It aims to encourage confidence in the workplace and help workforces become more “career proud”

Recent research by Monster, a world leader in connecting people to job opportunities, found a large portion of the British workforce feel under-thanked and under-appreciated, demotivated and uninspired.

The ‘My Career Selfie’ app and social media campaign hopes to encourage people to set the record straight and reinforce what it is they actually do.

It wants workers to confirm their job title, and then produce an elevator pitch-style job description to clarify and expand further, via a career selfie.

In the Monster research 54% said a lack of thanks made them feel under-appreciated while 41% also felt demotivated, making them less likely to give 100% effort.

Allan Virr (pictured), manager at Pitman Training Crewe and Nantwich based on Hospital Street, said: “So often people stereotype the duties someone carries out at work, when they hear their job title.

“In most cases, preconceived perceptions of duties carried out are far cry from what the job actually entails.

“As a result the way in which roles are developing and enhancing, and in turn allowing professionals to diversify, is overlooked, and this is very disappointing.

“The Career Selfie app allows an online platform for workers to proudly state what their job title is, and the responsibilities and tasks that go with.

“It will ultimately help change stereotypes which shoe-horn workers in to unrealistic job perceptions!”

Once a Career Selfie is completed, it is uploaded on to a Career Selfie wall for the whole world to see.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
