A 26-year-old man has been arrested and released on police bail in connection with a serious assault in Nantwich.

The attack is believed to have happened outside the Pizza Parlour takeaway in the Swine Market area of Nantwich.

The victim, a 21-year-old man from Whitchurch, suffered serious head injuries and is currently recovering at North Staffordshire Hospital, where his condition is described as stable.

The incident happened at about 2.40am on Saturday (October 4).

Detective Constable Lyndsey Burton said: “At this point enquiries into the incident are still on-going and we are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident.”

Anyone with information relating to the incident is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 134 of 4/10/2014.
