Two men have appeared in court charged with kidnapping following an incident in Wistaston, near Nantwich.

Police received reports of an incident in which a man was subjected to a serious assault at a property in Crewe Road, Wistaston on August 30.

The man – aged 35 – was taken to hospital where he was treated for his injuries and has subsequently been released.

Matthew Clark, aged 28, (no fixed abode)from the Crewe area, and Robert Higson, aged 32, from Monks Lane, Crewe, both appeared at South Cheshire Magistrates Court in Crewe today (September 5)

After further investigations, a 50-year-old Crewe man has been arrested for kidnapping in relation to the same incident and in connection to a fire at a property on Maw Lane in Crewe.

Police continue to seek others in connection with these matters, but believe this to be an isolated incident.
