A Crewe & Nantwich athlete has secured an amazing triple gold success in the Scottish Athletics Championships.

Fraser Ashman won his golden hat-trick golds in the discus, shot and javelin at the event in Aberdeen.

He came away with a brilliant first place in the discus, shot and javelin in the U15-19 competitions.

He threw 13.79 metres in the shot to win gold by 7 cm from Rotherham Harriers athlete Leo Rowley.

Fraser, who has just finished studying at Sandbach School, followed that up with a fine discus throw of 43.43m, beating his nearest rival for gold by more than eight metres.

He clinched the hat-trick in the javelin, when he launched it 45.54m, with a winning margin of two metres 41cm.

Fraser, who trains at Crewe & Nantwich’s base at the Cumberland sports arena in Crewe, told Nantwichnews: “I’m very pleased I managed to win all three of the events that I entered, and it was a great way to end the season.

“I have won triple golds at the Cheshire championships, but never a national championships!”

The 18-year-old is about to start a sports science degree at Bangor University in Wales in September.

A spokesman for Crewe & Nantwich Athletics Club said: “It is a truly remarkable set of performances!”

And a spokesman for Scottish Athletics said: “This is a pretty rare feat, so a  great achievement.”

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
