exhibition half term Nantwich Museum, flagday, stages First World War talks

The first of a series of talks accompanying the “Nantwich and the First World War” exhibition at Nantwich Museum takes place this week.

Prominent local historian Mark Potts will speak on “The Great War – the cost to the families of Nantwich” tomorrow (Wednesday August 20).

Mark will focus on 1914/15 and will recount stories of people of the time.

His recently published book, “Where the Fallen Live Forever”, co-authored with Tony Marks, is also on sale in the museum shop on Pillory Street.

The talk will take place in the Millennium Gallery on the ground floor of the museum, at 3pm.

Tickets cost £3 (Museum Members £2) and are available from the museum shop.

The exhibition is being financed by a Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) grant of £3,800 covering the cost of the display materials, interactive elements, a programme of events and accompanying literature.

It has also enabled members of the museum involved in its development to make fact-finding visits to other museums.

There will be more talks planned during the exhibition which runs until September 27.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
