This is the new-look Nantwich Town squad for the 2014-15 season which manager Danny Johnson says he is “happy” with.

As the Dabbers kick off away at Buxton today (August 16), Johnson  has urged supporters to “channel their expectations”.

But he also hopes the fans will provide the same support they did last season which ended disappointingly with lowly league position.

Johnson said:  “I am sure most supporters have noticed that we have changed the shape of the team.

“This has worked quite well and the players and management are determined to make it work.

“The pitch at the Weaver Stadium is quite tight, therefore it is really difficult to play with natural width.

“Adopting the formation we have gives our full backs massive responsibility to provide us with good width higher up the pitch.

“Luckily we have players like Scott Lycett, recent signing Shaun Dowling, and Andy White, who are all more than capable of performing the role we are asking.”

Johnson’s the only injury concern going into the opening game at Buxton is midfielder Adam Pepper. Johnson should have Steve Jones available, despite a late arrival back from a family break.

“We have a fairly new group but spirits have been quite high in training and the lads are coming together slowly but surely,” Johnson added.

“The support last season was absolutely magnificent.

“The players really appreciate that type of support and I know the lads who were here last season want to put some smiles on the supporters’ faces.”

“We’re not setting any targets. We want to play an exciting brand of football, score goals and win as many games as we can.

“It’s a tough league, possibly the strongest it’s been for some time.

“There are no real stand out teams but lots are more than capable of challenging at the top.

“We would settle for another season where we are not concerned about relegation, top ten or twelve would be a very good achievement based on last season’s standings.”

It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
