A man has been arrested amid reports of an attempted child abduction in Crewe today (July 31)

Police are investigating after a man was seen behaving suspiciously in the area around Morrisons on Dunwoody Way.

They received reports that a man approached a child and attempted to engage with her.

A Cheshire Police spokeswoman said a 34-year-old has been arrested following the incident and will be interviewed by police later today.

They said the child was not harmed in any way and is safe and well.
