HOW campaigners in Wistaston against Witters Field plan

Campaigners in Wistaston hit out at a developer’s second application to build 300 homes on village land known as “Witters Field”.

They spoke out after Gladman Developments Ltd submitted the second application for the land off Church Lane.

Their original application was turned down by Cheshire East’s Strategic Planning Board – a decision Gladman has appealed against.

Now campaigners say they have made a “cynical attempt” to get the plans through by “tweaking” the original application.

And hundreds of outraged Wistaston residents who sent in objections to the original plans, are being urged to do the same again.

Residents group “Hands off Wistaston” (HOW) has coordinated the campaign to save Witters Field.

HOW spokesman Peter Wainwright said: “This application is little or no different from the original and we don’t want it.

“We need all Wistaston residents to respond now and send in their objections to Cheshire East again.

“It is important they do because this is classed as a NEW application.”

The “Save Witters Field” campaign is also backed by Crewe & Nantwich MP Edward Timpson, Wistaston Cheshire East Councillors and Wistaston Parish Council.

Wistaston Ward Cllr Margaret Simon said: “Witters Field is loved by local people, it is very important to them and they don’t want to see it built on.

“It is unusual in that it is farmland that has been used for generations by local people for recreational purposes.

“It is also in the Crewe and Nantwich Green Gap.

“The Green Gap Policy was devised to keep its villages and towns separate from each other and to help them to keep their own identities.

“It really is vital residents take the time to respond to this new application as soon as possible, especially with the summer holidays almost upon us when many people will be going away.

“They only have until Wednesday August 6 to make their feelings known.”

HOW campaigner Peter Carton added: “We can’t afford to be complacent about this new application or leave the objecting for someone else to do.

“Please take the time to send in your comments to help to save Witters Field.”

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
