Nantwich residents and organisations are entering into the spirit of Nantwich in Bloom 2014!

The town is once again vying for awards in the national competition to find the most floral town in the UK.

And with Nantwich’s proud history of success in the contest, organisers are hoping for more joy this year.

These are just some of the pictures of displays and flowers being posted by local readers recently.

Creative firemen have been showing off their floral skills at the fire station on Beam Street, and local restaurants like Cafe de Paris on Hospital Street have also been adding a splash of colour.

Readers like David and Adam have also been sending in images of flower meadows and the efforts of local residents – however small!

2014 is the 50th anniversary of the Royal Horticultural Society competition, and judges are set to visit Nantwich on Thursday July 17.

Margaret Thrower, the daughter of celebrated gardener Percy Thrower, will also be visiting on July 24 to judge the town’s shops and businesses.

In 2013, the town was awarded Gold Medal status by regional North West judges, and the prestigious North West Biodiversity Award.

A spokesman for Nantwich in Bloom committee said; “The town is not only judged on by the quality of flowers, but on its cleanliness, lack of weeds and litter, and our commitment to the environment.

“Everyone can help by being particularly vigilant leading up to judging day, and if possible have a plant display!”

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
