Nantwich sprinter Hayley Jones has been selected to run for Great Britain in the World Relay Championships.

And a delighted Jones, a former Malbank School student, spoke of her joy at clinching a place in the team.

The championships take place in a sun-drenched Bahamas on May 24-25.

Hayley, 25, who trains in Loughborough and Wigan, tasted medal success in the World Championships last year when she was drafted in to the women’s 4×100 relay late on.

Hayley, whose parents still live in Nantwich, told Nantwichnews: “I’m honoured to be a part of such a strong team and excited to be a part of this new championships.

“Relays are so much fun but we also want to get the job done.

“After winning bronze at the world championships last year and running the fastest time in 12 years for women’s 4x100m we now have a new level expectation placed upon us.

“I think that’s really good because it shows how far we have come as a team and that’s where we want to be – mixing it with the best in the world.

“We will also be competing in the 4x200m which is great because it gives an extra opportunity to get out on that track in the Bahamas and race!

“Women’s sprinting is just getting better and better at the moment, and everyone wants to be in this relay squad.”

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
