Trump ban - Willaston and Rope Cllr Brian Silvester

A developer taking its plans for 170 homes in Willaston, near Nantwich, to appeal has submitted a second scaled down application for 146 properties.

Richborough Estates wants to build on land off Moorfields on Wistaston Road, Willaston, despite a large number of objections from local residents.

The developers took their original plan to appeal, claiming Cheshire East Council was too slow in making a decision on the planning application.

Now it has scaled down its proposed development to 146 properties, and added a play area and landscaping on the eastern side of the development.

Willaston and Rope Cllr Brian Silvester said: “While the changes in the plans are welcome it does not in any way lessen my objections to the application.

“I think it should be to be refused because it would have had a significant detrimental impact on the open countryside and the Green Gap and would take good agricultural land out of production forever. Also the application is unsustainable for a variety of reasons.

“Roads in Willaston are congested and dangerous now at peak times. Parking is already a nightmare for many Willaston residents, particularly in the Wistaston Road area.

“Recently some buses had to divert from the centre of the village because the congestion is so bad they cannot get through with the bus.

“To have over 290 more cars a day added to the traffic movements can only lead to further highway congestion, more parking problems, add to the accident numbers and the pollution concerns.

“The local primary school is already over subscribed and can’t take any more children.

“There is already a flooding problem across the village after heavy rain and this further development will add to the pressure on the capacity of the sewers.

“All those who have battled against this application, the residents, the Willaston Green Gap Action Team and the Parish Council are to be congratulated on their efforts.”

A public inquiry into the proposal could be held later in the year if the Planning Inspectorate upholds the developer’s appeal.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
