Pupils at a Nantwich school celebrated Science Week with a visit from Kidzkitchen and a hospital engineer!

Youngsters at Wyche Primary School blew up balloons with vinegar and bicarbonate soda; made their own butter; sucked up egg yolks with bottles and experimented with floating eggs.

Kidzkitchen carried out various experiments with the children to demonstrate the range of ingredients found in everyday food.

It was part of a programme of events in schools organised by The Rotary Club of Crewe, Rotary Club of Crewe and Nantwich Weaver, the Royal Society of Chemistry and NAGS Foundation based at Malbank School.

Tom Protheroe, the Rotary Science coordinator, joined in with the fun and was amazed at the children’s range of scientific vocabulary.

“Science Week has been a great success!” he said.

“We are always keen to promote a creative curriculum and this certainly helped the children to understand that science is all around us.

“The children had a fantastic science lesson all about changing states and mixing materials.

“These fun experiments generated a lot of discussions, with the children developing their scientific understanding of the world around them, especially of the everyday ingredients that they might find in the kitchen and take for granted.

“The simple egg will never seem the same again!”

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
