A body believed to be that of missing man Jez Cox has been found by police in Nantwich.

The body was discovered by officers in the Coole Lane area following an extensive search in and around the town.

Police say no formal identification has taken place, but the search for Mr Cox who has been missing since March 6 has now been called off.

Officers made the discovery at 3pm yesterday (Sunday March 23).

A spokeswoman for Cheshire Police said: “The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

Mr Cox (pictured), 49, was reported missing by family on March 6, but was last seen at an address on Park Road, Nantwich, on March 1.

He had been temporarily staying at the property, which is owned by a friend.

His disappearance prompted a major search, which included door to door enquiries, police helicopter, and a search of and around Nantwich Lake and the Shrewbridge Road area near River Weaver.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
