Nantwich Museum has won a Heritage Lottery Fund grant to fund an exhibition recalling the early years of the Great War.

The exhibition, called “Nantwich and the Great War”, looks at the impact of war on a market town.

It opens at the Pillory Street museum on Saturday July 19.

Museum manager Kate Dobson (pictured) said: “The grant will enable us to stage a well-resourced exhibition which will raise awareness of the early years of the war and how they impacted on life in the town.

“It will also facilitate the involvement of a wide range of local partners in the exhibition and associated events.”

Museum volunteers are playing a key part in the organisation and running of the exhibition including the museum’s research group and craft group.

A ‘Drop-in Day’ is planned for Saturday March 15 when members of the museum will be available between 10.45am and noon.

They want to hear from visitors’ reminiscences and learn of any artefacts which could be displayed during the course of the exhibition. Refreshments will be available.

The Heritage Lottery Fund aims to support and transform a wide range of heritage, from museums, parks and historic places to archaeology, natural environment and cultural traditions.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
