Staff at a Nantwich animal hospital have been caring for a rare seabird blown off course by hurricane-force winds.

This Razorbill (pictured) was badly hurt and found in a  shopping street in North Wales after the storms 12 days ago.

RSPCA inspectors recovered the bird and brought it to staff at Stapeley Grange Wildlife Centre on London Road.

And it’s not the only bird being cared for after stormy winds caused dozens to be blown off course, leaving them injured or in difficulties.

The Razorbill was found limping along Llandudno High Street, struggling and out of place.

An RSPCA inspector collected the sea bird and transferred it to Stapeley to be checked for injuries which could cause lameness.

Michelle Bite, wildlife assistant at Stapeley Grange, said: “The pain was probably sustained from crash landing in the high winds but on initial examination, the legs did not reveal any wound or obvious injury.

“The Razorbill was placed on a course of painkillers and over the space few days has begun to shown some improvement.

“Although it currently still needs to be assist fed sprats the bird has also begun to put on weight which is very encouraging.

“I can’t wait to see this rarely seen seabird recover and return to its natural coastal cliff surroundings!”

Stapeley Grange has also helped to care for other animals that have been victims of recent bad weather and tidal surges, such as seals and otters.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
