plays - Nantwich Players Theatre - The Witches

By Claire Faulkner
The latest production from Nantwich Players, “The Lonesome West”, is sure to wow the audiences this week.

This dark comedy details life in a rural Irish community, complete with a drunken priest, murder and sibling rivalry.

It has been directed by Gordon Hamlin and written by Martin McDonagh.

And once again, the incredible set design transforms this unique theatre and takes the audience into another world.

The four cast members give strong performances. The leads Eamon Goodfellow and Anthony Jenkin play ‘Coleman’ and ‘Valene Connor’.

Their comic timing is to be commended and is testament to how well the cast work together and the dedication given to producing a show.

‘Girleen Kelleher’ played by Kim Hallam delivers a beautiful soliloquy about lost love.

She is a brilliant young actress, who I’m sure we will see more of in the future.

Jonathan Everitt plays ‘Father Welsh’, the priest who starts to lose hope in the parish he serves.

He gives a truly emotional performance as he recounts his letter to the quarreling brothers.

‘The Lonesome West’ is a production which will make you laugh, but also think about the darker side of human nature.

It runs at The Players Theatre on Love Lane, Nantwich, until February 22.

Performances will be at 7.45pm. For ticket availability, contact Nantwich Civic Hall on 01270 600727.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
