Leighton Hospital A&E patients

Health chiefs have lifted visiting restrictions on all adult wards at Leighton Hospital.

Restrictions were imposed to tackle the spread of the diarrhoea and vomiting Norovirus bug.

Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust says the majority of patients have now recovered from the virus.

Karen Egan, associate director of infection, prevention and control, said: “We are grateful to all staff who have helped to maintain the safety of our patients by adhering to strict infection prevention and control measures.

“Their commitment and increased vigilance has helped to reduce the impact on the hospital and to patients being cared for on other wards.

“Additionally, we would like to thank visitors and members of the public for adhering to our temporary visiting restrictions.

“This has helped us greatly in bringing the outbreaks to a close by ensuring essential visiting only.”

Visitors are asked to continue with strict hygiene measures to help prevent the bug striking again.

“We are advising all visitors to ensure thorough hand-washing when entering or leaving a ward area and to use the hand gels provided at the entrance and exit to all patient areas,” Ms Egan added.

“Additionally, visitors are advised not to visit the hospital if they feel unwell with any nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea or cold and flu type symptoms, as this can lead to further infections being spread to our patients.”

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
