Nantwich Town hope to start 2014 on a winning note – and put the disappointment of Saturday’s postponed match behind them.

The Dabbers make the short trip to face Witton Albion for a New Year’s Day clash.

And Danny Johnson’s mean will go into the game full of confidence on the back of fine wins against Grantham Town and Stafford Rangers.

Johnson will hope his players’ frustrations with the referee calling off Saturday’s game against Frickley will be used to good effect when they take to the pitch at Wincham Park.

“I’m really looking forward to playing Witton,” he said.

“They have a lovely stadium and great supporters. Hopefully we can continue our good run of performances and move further away from the bottom four.”

The Nantwich boss has no injury worries ahead of the game with Max Harrop now fit again and Andy Pearson in line to make his Dabbers debut.

“We have no injury concerns for the game but I may look to freshen things up a little as we head into a busy two weeks of fixtures,” he added.

Having made the play-offs last time round, Witton are suffering from “second season syndrome” since their return to the Evo-Stik Premier and are struggling in the relegation zone.

Manager Brian Pritchard has moved to bolster his squad with the signings of strikers Chris Simm and Scott Bakkor.

He has also brought in AFC Telford midfielder Martyn Jackson on a month’s loan.

Kick off at Witton is 3pm. Admission is £9.50 adults, £7 concessions, £3 under 16s.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
