Two goals from striker Steve Foster (pictured) helped Nantwich Town defeat Trafford 4-0 in the Doodson Sport Cup.

Nantwich returned to Shawe View for the second time in three days after their 1-0 league victory over the Manchester side on Saturday.

Simon Hackney was fortunate to escape unpunished after a reckless challenge on Nantwich’s Sam Wilson in the opening minute.

After a lacklustre start with no shots on target, Danny Johnson’s Dabbers created the first real chance just shy of the midway point of the first half.

Trafford failed to deal with a corner and Steve Foster tested Hayden Buckley-Smith in the hosts’ goal.

From the resultant corner,  Buckley-Smith produced another fine stop from an Aaron Burns header.

Nantwich finally took the lead after 24 minutes when Nia Bayunu diverted into his own net after Mark Jones’ low ball in from the right wing.

Dabbers were in the ascendancy and a combination of good goalkeeping and poor finishing prevented them from extending their goal advantage before the interval.

Trafford stopper Buckley-Smith was replaced by Kieron O’Hara at half-time and he was called into action early on.

From the restart, striker Burns was in the thick of the action as he hit the post with a shot from the edge of the area.

Nantwich extended their lead after 48 minutes, when replacement goalkeeper O’Hara came out and Foster was able to roll the ball home.

O’Hara’s dogged perseverance paid off and he made some fine saves in a frantic spell, in including a double save from Foster and a further from Osebi Abadaki kept the deficit to two.

Ten minutes from time, Steve Foster saw his effort half saved but the ball fell back to his feet and he was able to tap home from close range.

Ben Deegan put the icing on the cake for the visitors with a lovely chip after O’Hara came off his line once more.

Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
