Members of Nantwich in Bloom are celebrating after scooping Gold Medal at the “North West in Bloom” awards.

Nantwich came out on top in the  “Best Town” category at the presentation in Southport.

And it’s just reward for volunteers who have worked throughout the year to add colour to the town.

Among them are Greenspaces (Jeff Stubbs, Doug Butterill and James Thompson), Nantwich Litter Group, Nantwich Civic Society and the Nantwich in Bloom helpers who help every week with planting and weeding.

Cheshire East Streetscape staff, led by Charlie Griffies and Anthony Murray, have also been praised for their planting and maintenance of beds and green areas around the town.

Presentation of Biodiversity awardCllr Christine Farrall, Nantwich Town Council representative on the committee, said: “Once again, Nantwich in Bloom has done a fantastic job in the town over the summer months and helped to make Nantwich an attractive place to visit and shop.

“The Town Council is very grateful for all the effort put in by the volunteers.”

The team was also awarded the “Biodiversity Award”, donated by the Mayor of Preston.

This award is given to the town or area that is helping the natural environment by creating wildlife habitats, planting trees and wildflowers.

One of the main factors in this award has been the work by Greenspaces at Coed Wen and the planting along the Riverside.

Connie Jones, Steve Otter (Cheshire East), Tom Deans, Margaret Lavin, Mark Betteley and David Smith received the Gold Award from the Mayor of Sefton at the presentation day on October 24.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
