A woman has appealed for help to trace her half-sister from Nantwich that she has never met in 70 years.

Diane Goodenough is keen to find out if her dad (pictured) Wilfred Ratcliffe’s daughter from a first marriage is still alive in South Cheshire.

Wilfred lived on Park Road, Willaston, while he worked at Crewe Railway Works before the Second World War.

But then he was called to serve with the Coldstream Guards during the war, and when he returned he did not go back to Cheshire and settled in Somerset instead.

Fanny Ratcliffe, 1945Here he started a new family, and had four children, including the eldest Diane.

But they also discovered Wilfred was previously married in Nantwich to a woman called Charlotte and that they had a daughter.

“This is the half-sister we are trying to trace,” said Diane.

“We think her age now would be about 73 to 75.

“This is really all we know. We never liked to ask too many questions when we were younger.

“But this name Ratcliffe may jog someone’s memory from the past and they can get in touch and maybe share some memories together.”

Her dad Wilfred was born in 1916, the son of Fanny Ratcliffe, who died aged 71 in 1966.

Wilfred also had a sister, and Diane believes has had a son called David, who would be Diane’s cousin.

Wilfred died in the 1970s.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
