A housebuilder helped raise cash for St Luke’s Cheshire Hospice – and gave the local bee population a boost.

David Wilson Homes, currently building the Stapeley Gardens 150-home development in Nantwich, offered a free prize draw to Nantwich Food Festival visitors.

A hamper of luxury local produce was up for grabs in exchange for a donation and a free seed packet.

The seed packets form part of the company’s three-year campaign to support the local bee population.

Each packet contained wild flower seeds to encourage people to plant “bee friendly” gardens at home.

Steve Jackson, sales director at David Wilson Homes North West, said: “We are delighted to have been able to support St Luke’s Cheshire Hospice through our presence at the Nantwich Food Festival.

“As the event is so popular in the local area, it was the perfect opportunity for us to get involved with the community in which we are currently building at Stapeley Gardens.”

Martha Hine, President’s Appeal coordinator at St Luke’s Cheshire Hospice, said: “We would like to thank David Wilson Homes for its support and donation towards our President’s Appeal.

“St Luke’s is at the forefront of the hospice movement in building a sustainable model to provide care for the frail and elderly in our community.

“We have launched an appeal to raise the funds required to complete the building of a new ‘Centre of Excellence’.

“The centre will provide training, education and research for end of life care in both our community and nationally.

“We look forward to working with David Wilson Homes further in the coming months.”

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
