Nantwich Town boss Danny Johnson takes charge of his first competitive game when the Dabbers kick off their new league campaign tomorrow (August 17).
Nantwich welcome King’s Lynn Town to Weaver Stadium in their first clash for four years.
And Johnson (pictured) leads his new-look side into the clash with defenders Andy White and Sam Egerton-Wilson late additions to the squad.
The big kick-off can’t come soon enough for the former Ashton United boss who has promised his side will be competitive and give their all for Nantwich Town.
“This group of players is desperate to do well and be successful for Nantwich Town Football Club,” he said.
“My lads must respect King’s Lynn’s achievement of winning their league last season and we are fully aware they will provide us with a stern test.
“At the same time we must not show them too much respect – it’s important we start the season well and look to create our own success.”
Two goals from Matt Rhead and an Ashley Carter strike saw the Dabbers chalk up a 3-0 win at the Walks Stadium in their last encounter in 2009.
The victory took Nantwich, managed by Peter Hall, to the top of the Premier Division of the Northern Premier League.
It’s the highest position Nantwich have reached in the non-league pyramid.
But by the time the old King’s Lynn went bust three months later, the Dabbers had slipped to 12th.
Since then, Lynn have had new beginnings, re-forming as King’s Lynn Town and climbing their way back up the leagues.
Gary Setchell’s side topped the Evo-Stik Division One South last season and are among the clubs tipped to challenge for the Premier title this time round.
The Linnets come into the game on a good run of form, having lost just once in 10 pre-season friendlies.
There is free matchday parking and admission prices for 2013/14 remain at £9 adults, £6 concessions and £2 children.
A new-look matchday programme will also be available, priced £2.
Kick off is at 3pm.
