A tireless charity worker from South Cheshire has been recognised at the Great British Care Awards in London.

Dorothy Chennell, director of training and development at the Lady Verdin Trust, was described by judges as “truly inspirational”.

Staff from the trust, which supports adults with learning disabilities in Crewe and Nantwich, attended the awards at the Grosvenor House Hotel, as a celebration of regional winners from the home care sector.

Dorothy was one of six finalists shortlisted for the Putting People First Award.

She said: “I was honoured to be at these awards representing the Lady Verdin Trust.

“It was a great chance for the trust to be recognised and rewarded as leading the way within the care industry.

“Although I was not the eventual winner, I did receive a trophy for being a finalist.

“And whatever we do, win or lose, we all know the real winners are our clients thanks to the on-going commitment and dedication of all the staff that work at the Trust.”

Dorothy was awarded the Putting People First Award at last year’s Great North West Care Awards held in Blackpool, which earned her place at this year’s grand finals in London.

The Great British Care Awards, supported by the Department of Health, celebrates excellence in the social care industry and recognises those individuals who work in the sector throughout the UK.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
