A new group called “Hands Off Wistaston” has been set up to protect the village’s Green Gap from development.

Campaigners hope the group will help defend Wistaston against “unnecessary, unsustainable and unwanted development”.

It comes after two property developers Gladman and Muller unveiled their plans to build up to 1,800 new homes in Wistaston in the last few weeks.

The group has launched a Twitter page and a Facebook page.

Cheshire East Council Leader Cllr Michael Jones will be at the next Wistaston Parish Council meeting on May 16 at 7.30pm at the Memorial Hall on Church Lane.

A spokesman said: “Please attend to send the message that we want to keep our Green Gap here in Wistaston.”

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

We regularly walk accross Witter’s Field to Queen’s park, and believe the existing network of well-used paths should be preserved along with the open spaces which they cross. On any day, there are dozens of residents making use of the paths for health and recreation. Keep up the campaign!

I strongly object to the proposition that the green gap be removed.
I feel that the number of housing units proposed is completely over the top, will destroy the nature of the community, and are not really required anyway.
At least, at present there appears to be no shortage of housing – witness the number of houses for sale – and not being sold!
There is already enormous pressure on local infrastructure, and such development could only increase this to an even higher level.
Why should present residents have to endure the inconvenience of noise, dust, traffic pressure and everything else that goes with such developments, just to enable the developers to grossly increase their profit levels?

I think that Church Lane will clog with the cars coming from Witters Field which is already near clogging at the morning and evening rush times.
