Crewe Alexandra goalkeeper Steve Phillips said he was stunned at how much a Nantwich pub quiz helped to raise.

The Peacock, in Willaston, staged the quiz which saw many of Crewe’s Wembley heroes auctioned off.

The event was held to help raise money for Caudwell Children, a charity close to Steve’s heart.

And altogether it raised a staggering £540 in one night.

“The quiz was a brilliant night,” Steve told Nantwichnews.

“I cannot thank every body who attended enough, and big thanks go to Carl and the Peacock and Baz Daly for organising it.

“Raising £540 is an astonishing return from a quiz night!”

Other Crewe stars present on Wednesday night (April 24) included Luke Murphy, Harry Davis, AJ Leitch-Smith,  and Kelvin Mellor.

As well as the quiz, Crewe Alex memorabilia was auctioned off.

Money raised went to Caudwell Children and Leukaemia Research.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
