Work has started on a new multi-million pound facility at Leighton Hospital.

Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust bosses say the £22.8 million project will provide new operating theatres and critical care unit.

A new building will replace current theatres and existing Intensive Care and High Dependency units, with state-of-the-art services.

Denise Frodsham, MCHFT chief operating officer, said: “We have taken the next steps towards further increasing the quality and safety of care for our patients for generations to come.

“These new facilities will allow us to treat and operate in modern surroundings with the most up-to-date equipment, resulting in an improved hospital experience for those members of the local community who require treatment here.”

Leighton Hospital teamPhil Shaw, regional construction manager at Interserve, the Trust’s construction partners for this project, said: “We are very proud we are able to play our part in helping provide first class treatment facilities to the people of Crewe, Nantwich and the surrounding area.”

The building which will house new theatres and critical care units will be next to the hospital’s existing treatment centre, and should be open by early 2014.

“The Trust would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused as a result of the building works,” said a spokesman. “And to reassure patients services are being kept operational throughout the project.”

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
