Fire crews are battling a blaze in a town centre pub in Nantwich.

The fire broke out in a ground floor cleaning cupboard of the Red Cow pub on Beam Street and spread.

It’s not clear whether anyone was in the building at the time or if anyone is injured.

The road and Nantwich bus stations have now re-opened, say emergency services.

Four firefighters had to wearing breathing apparatus to get inside the building and tackle the flames with two hose reel jets.

They also used a large fan to clear the fumes.

National Grid teams were also called to isolate power supplies in the building.

A spokeswoman for Cheshire Fire Service said: “We were called at 10.18am, the fire involves two floors of the pub. We have three appliances on scene, one from Nantwich and two from Crewe.

“We are still on scene so details are coming through. Police set up an outer cordon.”

A Nantwich Police spokeswoman said: “We believe the fire started in the cleaning cupboard downstairs, but the electrics are still live so we’ve had to close off the area.”

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
