Pear Tree Primary School in Stapeley has been forced to cancel a planned trip to take children to perform in the Young Voices at MEN Arena tonight.

Other schools including Brine Leas, Malbank, Shavington High, Millfields and Acton Primary have closed early, while Highfields are allowing children to be collected early.

South Cheshire College in Crewe and a number of high schools in the town are also closing early.

For youngsters, the first deep snowfall for more than a year will bring plenty of fun and games.

Around 10cm has fallen by around midday today (January 18), and forecasters say it will continue on off until at least 9pm tonight.

More snow showers are also forecast tomorrow (Saturday January 19).

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
