Cheshire’s new Police and Crime Commissioner for Cheshire has vowed to crackdown on the county’s 100 most prolific offenders.
Former Crewe & Nantwich councillor John Dwyer says he will chair a multi-agency partnership to fight repeat criminals.
“All too often, large numbers of crimes are committed by a small group of people and the common denominator is frequently drug or alcohol related,” he said.
“I will form a partnership with organisations for whom the same people take up most of our time and effort.
“We will work to come up with solutions tailored for those individuals.
“I know that we will not be able to help all of those people but by addressing the needs of some, we can significantly reduce crime and free up a lot of officer and staff time across the agencies.”
Agencies involved in the crackdown include local councils, drug rehabilitation services, Probation Service, housing associations, court service, mental health organisations, GPs and the police.
