Nantwich Police officers showed support for the fight to stop violence against women by tying a white ribbon outside their station.
White ribbons were on display outside all Cheshire Police stations to mark a national awareness day (November 25).
The ribbon has been adopted as the symbol of preventing violence against women. It aims to ensure men take more responsibility for reducing the level of violence against women.
Research shows domestic violence affects one in four women in their lifetime. Two women a week are killed by their partners or former partners.
Assistant Chief Constable Ruth Purdie said: “Cheshire Police regularly encounters incidents of domestic violence, which can often be life threatening and destroy the lives of women.
“We urge all women who are experiencing domestic abuse to report it to Cheshire Police in the first instance. Don’t suffer in silence.
“Cheshire Police have supported this national campaign for several years because it is an issue which the police deal with all year round − any case of domestic violence is one too many.”
The White Ribbon Campaign appeared in 1991 and has spread to over 57 countries around the world.
The UK supports the campaign from November 25 until December 10 but campaigns can occur at any time of the year.
