The Nantwich Singers

An evening of choral contrasts will be hosted by the Nantwich Singers this weekend.

The group will be performing live at St Mary’s Church, Nantwich on Saturday November 24.

They will sing a range of classics such as trusted favourites Vivaldi’s Gloria and his less well-known Magnificat.

Purcell’s ‘Rejoice in the Lord Always’ (‘the Bell Anthem’) will be performed too, before the choir skip a few years to Lux Aeterna by Morten Lauridsen.

This piece was first performed by the choir in 2008.

The concert is dedicated to the patron saint of music St Cecilia, whose saint day falls on November 22.

“Switch off the television for an evening, sacrifice a forgettable night of X Factor and come to support a local choir for an unforgettable performance,” said spokeswoman Caroline Briggs-Harris.

“There is even a glass of wine included in the ticket price!”

Tickets will be sold on the door at £8 each. Concert begins at 7.30pm.

There is a deal for ‘Friends of the Nantwich Singers’ (which it is possible to join on the night free of charge) – £14 for both the St Cecilia concert and the Singers’ Christmas concert on Saturday December 15.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
