Susan Houghton (centre) with Meadowbank team

A Wistaston temp who worked for dozens of Crewe and Nantwich companies, is retiring after 20 years with the same recruitment agency.

Susan Houghton has finished her last placement for Meadowbank Associates, on Welsh Row.

She has worked in organisations as large as the NHS and as small as one-man-bands in roles including PA, secretary and office administrator.

Susan first signed on with the Welsh Row agency in 1992 and has been in demand ever since in assignments as long as 12 months and as short as a few days.

Branch manager Karen Dennis said she will be missed by colleagues, especially Melony Dixon and Jane Stevens, as well as lots of businesses across South Cheshire.

“We have been very lucky to have Susan on our books and she exemplifies everything we look for in a candidate,” said Karen.

“She is punctual, professional and polite, gets on well with people, has a good skillset and rises to the challenge of going into new working environments.

“At the last count she had worked for at least 30 companies – which in our book means she has worked for more companies in Crewe and Nantwich than anyone else we know.

“While we’re happy for her as she retires, we’re secretly sad because we’ve loved working with Susan and will miss her dearly.”

Her career as a temp is a far cry from her first job at British Rail, which she joined from school and worked at various locations for 30 years.

“I wanted a new challenge in different working environments,” said Susan.

“I’ve loved the challenge of going somewhere new, either in a simple capacity covering for someone for a few days or taking on major administrative projects.

“I’m very grateful Meadowbank Associates kept supplying me with such interesting and diverse placements.”

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Thanks to Susan for all her hard work over the years – so lovely to see it recognised in the local press.
