Sound and District Primary's Halloween disco

Pupils at a Nantwich primary school helped raise more than £200 for a new build project with a frightfully good Halloween disco.

Youngsters at Sound and District Primary turned out in force to a themed fancy dress dance organised by the PTA.

The event was staged to help equip a new classroom to be built in the school grounds.

Children dressed as ghosts, witches, skeletons and scary film characters including Frankenstein’s monster, The Mummy and vampires from the Twilight Trilogy.

They danced the afternoon away alongside classmates in less fearful fancy dress including fairies, pirates and pixies.

A pumpkin competition attracted more than 50 hand-crafted entries which lined the entrance path to school.

PTA secretary Rosie Shaw said: “Over a hundred children enjoyed the afternoon and most came in fancy dress. A professional DJ and light show saw them all up on the floor dancing their socks off.”

The Victorian-built school won planning permission and a £350,000 Government grant to flatten an old mobile and build a new classroom last term. Works starts later this month.

More funds to equip it will be raised at a Christmas fair on December 1. Stalls offering gift ideas and hot turkey and cranberry baps will be on offer to visitors.

Plans are also in the pipeline for an open afternoon in November. Prospective parents interested in attending are asked to call the school on 01270 780270.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
