Olympic poster at Nantwich Museum exhibition

Olympic posters from the past form part of the latest exhibition in the Community Gallery at Nantwich Museum.

The exhibition opened yesterday (October 30) and runs until Saturday December 8.

During the exhibition the London 2012 Olympic Torch carried in Crewe by Andy Fewtrell in May can be viewed at the Pillory Street venue.

Visitors can hold the torch and have their picture taken with it this Saturday November 3 between 10.30am and 12.30pm.

People are asked to make a donation in return, shared between Andy Fewtrell’s charity, ‘The Up and Under Group,’ and the museum.

‘The Up and Under Group”, founded by Fewtrell, works to change youngsters lives through adventure.

There will be an illustrated talk by Adrian Sumner, creative economy officer at Cheshire West & Chester Council, at 3pm on Thursday December 6.

The talk will be on the diversity of art generated by the winter and summer Olympic Games over 3000 years.

As well as the posters it will consider various aspects of art including the linked-ring logo, Greek sculptures and paintings, architecture, mascots and fashions.

Tickets for the talk are £3 per person, museum trust members £2, available from the museum.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
