Stapeley Broad Lane School

Parents are celebrating after Cheshire East councillors approved plans for a car-park at a busy Nantwich primary school.

The 43-space car park will be built next to Stapeley Broad Lane Primary School.

It brings an end to a 14-year battle by parents and school staff to alleviate the traffic problems plaguing the school on the busy A529 Audlem Road.

The car park will include a space for school buses and a drop off area, in the hope that it will stop all school traffic from parking on the main road.

The plans, which had been rejected in the past, were finally approved after amendments by the Southern Area Planning Committee yesterday (October 10).

Campaigner Matthew Theobald, who lives on Broad Lane close by, said: “This is fabulous news. It’s a great result for everyone who has put so much hard work into the plans and campaign.”

Mr Theobald has been running a blog called “Mad, Scary and Bad” with pictures and videos showing the chaos on Broad Lane at drop off and pick up times.

Headteacher Ian Shackleton told Nantwichnews last week of parents’ anger and frustration at the situation.

He revealed that the Diocese will fund the new car park once they have sold the school house situated next to the school.

He hopes the car park will be in place before the end of the current school year.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
