Nantwich Town produced their worst performance of the season as they slumped to an embarrassing 5-0 home defeat to Worksop.
Sloppy defending and lack of a cutting edge up front meant the Dabbers were on the wrong end of a drubbing at the Weaver Stadium.
Jimmy Quinn’s men were 3-0 at half-time, with many of the 308 supporters voicing their discontent.
Two goals just after the half hour mark, one from a corner scored by Kern Miller and then a penalty byAshley Burbeary, gave the visitors the upper hand after an even first 30 minutes.
Then Worksop pushed the knife in when they grabbed a third on the stroke of half-time thanks to a Craig king strike.
Quinn could not manage a miracle team talk, and despite replacing Cooke and Hughes with Lane and MacLachlan, they still struggled to trouble the opponent’s keeper.
Worksop grabbed a fourth with 20 minutes to play when a long ball down the middle caused confusion at the back, allowing Leon Mettam to dart in and slot home.
Six minutes later, Tom Denton completed the rout.
Nantwich barely troubled their opponents, managing their first real attempt on target in the 85th minute.
It’s the third home defeat in five games, and the manner of this collapse will concern Quinn.
The loss leaves the Dabbers in seventh place, but with a negative goal difference.
