Coronation Street actress Michelle Keegan

Coronation Street star Michelle Keegan will add glamour to a spectacular bonfire and fireworks display in Nantwich.

The pin-up, who plays Rovers barmaid Tina McIntyre in the ITV soap, will be at the “Spooktacular” Halloween family fun night at Dorfold Park on October 27.

Michelle, 25, who picked up Best Actress at the TV Choice Awards, is regularly voted ‘Sexiest Female’ in British Soap Awards.

John Malam, of event organisers Blitz Fireworks in Crewe, said: “Michelle is the biggest name in soap right now and we are thrilled to have secured her for Nantwich.

“She’s never out of the headlines and her character is currently taking the lead storyline in the soap.

“It’s a real coup to get her because everyone wants her to make personal appearances right now but we have signed her through her agent in Manchester and she will be there on the night to light the bonfire.”

More than 10,000 people are expected at the event which will include an all-weather pyromusical firework display by specialists Blitz Fireworks on Hightown.

Billed as the biggest in region, it will feature more than 1,300 fireworks including an explosive finale.

The actress, who regularly adorns the pages of fashion magazines, will judge a Halloween fancy dress competition for children and present the winner’s trophy on stage.

Crewe and Nantwich MP Edward Timpson will judge the adult fancy dress entrants.

Other attractions include a giant funfair, licensed bar, VIP hospitality marquee, Punch & Judy show, various catering stalls, competitions and live music on stage.

A free bus service will also be laid on to Dorfold Park from Nantwich Civic Hall and Snowhill car-park.

Tickets are £5 children, £7 adults.

Proceeds will help raise cash for charities supported by the Nantwich Agricultural Society and there will also be fundraising for St Luke’s Cheshire Hospice on the night.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
