Beth Tweddle returns to Bunbury and has a road named after her

Hundreds of residents in a Nantwich village turned out to welcome home local Olympic hero Beth Tweddle.

The bronze medal gymnast returned to her home in Bunbury to a rowsing reception – and a road named after her!

The 27-year-old was welcomed by families young and old, local councillors, media representatives and more at yesterday’s reception (Sept 2nd).

Leader of Cheshire East Council Cllr Michael Jones, who represents Bunbury ward, presented her with a road sign after the council agreed to name a road in her honour.

Mayor of Cheshire East George Walton was also present, and he presented her with Freedom of the County.

The village hall was decked out in all its Beth Tweddle glory to poay tribute to the former Crewe & Nantwich Gymnastics Club legend.

She spent time with the crowd, answering questions from the children, having photographs and signing autographs.

Beth was presented with the by the Mayor, and Cheshire East leader Michael Jones also announced that Beth would be having a close named after her.

She said that she was “overwhelmed” with how many people had turned out to show their support and to celebrate with her.
