Nantwich Town beat Welsh Premier League’s Prestatyn Town 6-1 to extend their pre-season winning run, writes Ashley Houghton.

Dabbers new boy Kyle Wilson (pictured) scored his third hat-trick in three games, with the side now bagging 16 in just five pre-season games.

Second-half goals from Lewis Short, Niall Maguire and Will Jones gave Jimmy Quinn’s side a comfortable victory after Paul O’Neill had equalised for The Seasiders.

The Dabbers dominated possession early on and almost scored on 12 minutes when Sean Cooke’s cross was headed down by Darren Moss for Chris Flynn but the Nantwich skipper blazed over from 18 yards.

Dabbers wide man Lewis Short was impressive and he broke down the left on 16 minutes to force a sharp save from Jon Hill-Dunt in the Prestatyn goal.

The Welsh side never really came into the game and it took them half an hour to get a shot on goal as Ross Stephens flashed wide from 20 yards.

Nantwich broke the deadlock on the stroke of half-time as Sean Cooke’s corner fell to Wilson who volleyed home elegantly from ten yards.

It took the hosts just five second-half minutes to equalise as Dan Evans’ shot was blocked and O’Neill pounced to score the rebound.

The Dabbers were back in front only two minutes later though as Wilson intercepted Chris Davies pass and rounded Hill-Dunt before rolling the ball home calmly.

The advantage was doubled on the hour mark as substitute Maguire rounded two Prestatyn defenders before setting the ball to Short who hammered home from the edge of the area.

Mark Beesley hit the post from a free-kick moments later and was the man who linked the Nantwich play up all night, perhaps unfortunate not to find himself on the score-sheet.

With five minutes to go, Nantwich grabbed a fourth, this time Maguire the scorer as good interplay between the ex-Stafford Rangers midfielder and Jones, forced a save from substitute goalkeeper Gareth Barker but the rebound was coolly placed home by Maguire.

A minute later and Jones scored the goal of the game. Nantwich youth-team graduate Lyndon Campbell burst down the right and cut back for Jones who volleyed home to score his first Dabbers goal since joining from Burscough.

Jones turned provider for the sixth as his persistent running forced a mistake from The Seasiders defence and gave him the opportunity to set Wilson who smashed home from 15 yards completing his third hat-trick in three games.

It makes it three pre-season wins on the trot for Jimmy Quinn’s side ahead of Friday evening’s friendly against Port Vale.

Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
