Nantwich Town’s Kyle Wilson was delighted at bagging a hat-trick on his first Dabbers start.
Wilson, who signed for Nantwich from Bangor City, scored three first-half goals in Dabbers’ 5-1 victory over Macclesfield Town.
The 26-year-old former FC United of Manchester frontman was as surprised as any with his immediate impact at the Weaver Stadium.
He said: “I was just hoping to get through the game as Ihaven’t played a game for three months now.
“To get a hat-trick was brilliant.”
Wilson linked up well with fellow new boy Mark Beesley and he believes the contrasting styles of the two help their combination.
“We just compliment each other well, he’s a clever player and he was always looking to play me in and we were working off each other well.
“It seemed to click straight away so hopefully that will be good news for the new season.”
Prolific marksman Wilson says the reputation of manager Jimmy Quinn was the main reason behind joining Nantwich.
“Jimmy has got a reputation of getting his side’s to play good football and he’s got high expectations for the club.
“It’s a good club here with a great set up so I jumped at the chance to sign.”
