The British Cheese Board has awarded the prestigious Nantwich Show Cheese Industry Award to Craig Mitchell.
Craig, operations manager at Lubborn Cheese in Somerset, takes the annual title awarded during the International Cheese Show at Nantwich’s Dorfold Park.
The award recognises outstanding long term commercial or voluntary contributions to the UK cheese industry.
Craig has been involved with the development and production of soft mould ripened cheese at Lubborn for nearly 30 years.
He helped establish Somerset Brie as a leading brand and contributed to the development of numerous range extensions.
Craig, receiving the award earlier today (July 24), said: “This is the proudest day of my life!
“I am deeply honoured to receive such a prestigious award from the British Cheese Board. It has been my passion, and indeed my life, to be part of such a successful company as Lubborn Cheese.”
Nigel White, secretary of the British Cheese Board, added: “His long term commitment to the industry and his contribution to making excellent, award winning white mould cheeses make him a truly deserving winner.”
