Cabaret, Nantwich Players

Life is certainly a “Cabaret” this week in Nantwich, as The Players present their latest production, writes Claire Faulkner.

Directed by Jerry Park, the cast gave a strong and accomplished performance captivating the audience at the Love Lane theatre.

“Cabaret” delves into the mixed lives of German people just before Hitler’s rise to power.

Ben Ireson was great as the pleasure seeking ‘Emcee’, welcoming the audience into the dark illustrious world of the Kit Kat Club and making you forget the reality of life outside.

Rob West’s portrayal of ‘Clifford Bradshaw’, a visiting American to Berlin was compelling and thought provoking.

Cast opposite was Laura Monkhouse as the mysterious ‘Sally Bowles’, who truly made the character her own.

The cast must also be credited for their song and dance routines, which shows the commitment and dedication they have to produce such a wonderful performance.

With strong political themes and heart-rending stories of ordinary lives, any production of “Cabaret” needs a strong cast and director to ensure emotion and empathy is understood by the audience.

In this production, Nantwich Players have accomplished this completely. Well worth a viewing.

Performances take place at 7.45pm, between July 13 and 21.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
