Derby Docks Allotment, Wulvern Housing

Staff from Nantwich housing provider Wulvern Housing joined residents to transform a community allotment.

The team got stuck in to tackle the overgrown plot on Crewe’s Derby Docks estate.

Wulvern, which manages more than 5,000 homes in Crewe, Nantwich and surrounding villages,  funded five customers to transform the plot which will now grow healthy food.

Neighbourhood coordinator Sarah Jones said: “Work on the allotment is already underway, with the first seeds sown and the promise of a bumper harvest next year!

“This project is a fantastic way to build our community, and get people living healthier lifestyles by growing their own fruit and vegetables.”

Customer Susan Brooke added: “I miss having access to a garden so this is a great opportunity to enjoy the outdoors – as well as producing lots of healthy, fresh produce. We all can’t wait to get started!”

If you have any unwanted gardening tools or can donate seeds or plants to the group please contact Sarah on 01270 503563.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
