A51 Bypass crash

A driver who died in a car accident on Marsh Lane in Nantwich has been named locally as Rob Brereton,

Mr Brereton’s wife Mandy was seriously injured in the accident when the car collided with a tree close to the junction with Queen’s Drive.

Police have yet to officially confirm the names, but friends of Mr Brereton, 36, have been paying tribute to him on social network sites.

One colleague said: “Rob was a true gent and one of the best people I have had the pleasure to work with. This has hit me like a ton of bricks, he will be sadly missed.”

Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident which happened on Friday night (June 15) at about 10.30pm.

The Kia car lost control and left the road before colliding with the tree.

Police are appealing for any witnesses and would like to speak to the driver of a light-coloured vehicle travelling along Marsh Lane from Nantwich towards Wrenbury at the time of the collision.

Anyone with information should contact Eastern operational support unit on on 101 quoting incident 1030 of 15/06/12.

The Cheshire coroner is due to open an inquest into Mr Brereton’s death in the next few days.
