Brought to Crewe Lyceum by Hull Truck, ‘DNA’ proved to be a powerful and thought provoking production.

Directed by Anthony Banks, the cast of young actors brought to life the incredible invisible influence peer pressure can hold over all of us.

Superbly written by Dennis Kelly, ‘DNA’ tells the story of a group of teenagers who commit a terrible crime.

A cover up is planned, one which they all believe will make everything better.

Including strong and the sometimes difficult themes of teenage cruelty, individual actions and consequences, ‘DNA’ is a piece of theatre which will make you stop and think.

Leah Brotherhead was simply outstanding as ‘Leah’. Her numerous soliloquies were performed with humour and emotion.

Daniel Francis-Swaby gave a strong performance as ‘Brian’, demonstrating how easy it could be to get tangled into the group dynamics and dilemmas.

The entire cast worked well together giving the audience a glimpse of how the introduction of a ‘ pack like’ personality can influence a group of teenagers.

It’s well worth a visit to The Lyceum to catch this, reminiscent of ‘Lord of The Flies’, ‘DNA’ is sure to be a play which will stay with us for a very long time.

If you like theatre with a punch, and a production which will leave you asking questions go and see this, you won’t be disappointed.

DNA is showing until Wednesday May 23.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
