Nantwich Museum Millennium Gallery

The “Paintings and Drawings of Dorothy Bradford” exhibition in Nantwich Museum ends on Saturday May 26.

It illustrates the favourite subjects of the artist who lived in the town in the later years of her life before she died in 2008, aged 90.

The work focuses on movement of musicians, dancers, horses and riders, birds and groups of people.

Cumbrian-born Dorothy always insisted that “movement is life” and sought to record the movements that fascinated and delighted her.

It is the fourth exhibition of her work at the museum, currently in the Millennium Gallery.

Dorothy attended Liverpool College of Art and, after moving to London, worked with the Council for the Encouragement of Music and Arts the forerunner of the Arts Council.

After a time in Yorkshire she returned to Liverpool obtaining major commissions at Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral and the New Philharmonia Orchestra.

The Rotary Children’s Art Exhibition in the Community Gallery of the Pillory Street museum closes on the same day.

This will allow the two galleries to be prepared for the summer’s “Nantwich under the two Elizabeths” exhibition.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
